Maplecrest-Sempar School Principal, Grade 5 - 6 Homeroom and Grades 5 - 8 Science and Math Teacher


Roxanne GarwoodRoxanne Garwood is a graduate of Queen’s University with a B. Sci (Hons) and a B. Ed with Additional Qualification in Intermediate Level Science. In 2007 she completed the Ontario Federation of Independent Schools Principal’s Course. Roxanne began her teaching career in 1998 and in 2002 she became Owner and Principal of Sempar Middle School. Her focus as a principal , and as a teacher, is on building a strong sense of school community, and on meeting the individual needs of her students. Her professional interests include Outdoor Education and Environmental Studies. In her free time Roxanne enjoys classes in ballet and latin jazz, yoga, painting and choir.




Maplecrest-Sempar School Kindergarten Teacher

Cheryl AndersonCheryl Anderson is a graduate of Queen's University with a BA (English) and a B.Ed. She has an extensive background in outdoor education and recreational programming, where she has worked with youth of all ages and from diverse backgrounds.  Cheryl also volunteers with the Learning Disabilities Association of Kingston. Currently Cheryl is heading up the Pre-School and Kindergarten programs where she can put her Reading Specialist expertise to good practice. Her professional interests include literacy, developing self-esteem and team building. In her spare time Cheryl enjoys many outdoor activities including canoeing, hiking, and skiing.



Maplecrest-Sempar School Grade 1 - 2 Teacher


Bryan LittleBryan Little began his lifelong love of education working with children in a summer camp setting as a counsellor, lifeguard, and as a horseback-riding, swimming, and canoe instructor. Bryan is a graduate of The University of Western Ontario with a BA in Childhood and Family Relations, York University with a B.Ed., and Fanshawe College with a diploma in Early Childhood Education. Bryan began his career in education in 2003, teaching Grade One in both the private and public sectors. He has an extensive outdoor education/recreational background, where he was the founder, Camp Director, and Program Director of the Earth Adventure Program in London, Ontario. In his free time, Bryan enjoys spending time with his wife and young son canoeing, skiing, hiking, reading and exploring the wonders of the natural world.


Maplecrest-Sempar School Grade 3 - 4 Homeroom and Grades 5 - 8 Art Teacher

Terri KennedyTerri Kennedy graduated from the Concurrent Education Program at Queen's University with a Bachelor of Arts and Education. Terri taught with the Toronto District School Board for ten years prior to moving to Kingston. She has experience teaching JK to Grade 4 as well as Grade 8. After moving to Kingston, Terri choose to stay at home with her young sons. During this time, Terri completed her Reading Specialist with Queen's University.
Terri feels privileged to be a teacher and is very enthusiastic about joining the Maplecrest-Sempar staff in her position as a teacher of Grade 3/4 and Visual Arts for Grades 5 to 8. Visual arts have been a personal interest for as long as she can remember. In her spare time,Terri enjoys spending time with her family, drawing, watercolour painting, reading, hiking, and camping.

Maplecrest-Sempar School Grade 7 - 8 and Grades 5 - 8 English, Physical Education and Social Studies Teacher

Ms. IronsideStephanie Ironside is a graduate of the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) degree in English and History.  In 2007, she attended Medaille College, graduating this past August with her Master’s of Science in Education.  Stephanie anticipates completing an additional qualification in Special Education, Part I by the end of the summer.  Her focus as a teacher is on character development, differentiating learning for the individual needs of each of her students, and on developing comprehensive literacy programs.  Stephanie has spent a great deal of time working with youth in the Kingston community.  In her spare time, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her family, reading, running, biking and baking. 

Maplecrest-Sempar School Music, Physical Education and French Teacher

Patrick HeadleyPatrick Headley is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario with an Honours Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music degree. Patrick began teaching at MSS in 2008.  He has previously taught in the performance and music education departments in UWO’s music faculty. Patrick has had a successful music career, holding multiple principal bassoon positions in Southern Ontario while maintaining an active career teaching music and French to students of all ages and skill levels. 
At Maplecrest-Sempar School, Patrick teaches Music, French and Physical Education where he encourages group participation and learning through peer pedagogy. Patrick has a passion for music, guitars, cars and, in his free time, enjoys many games and sports, especially hockey.
